The convergence between biotechnology and fitness is recognized as an emerging field aimed at optimizing physical performance, recovery, and metabolic health through the integration of applied microbiology, functional nutrition, and biomaterial development. Background: growing interest in personalized medicine, gut microbiome modulation, and innovation in bioactive supplements has driven research on the interaction between biotechnology and physical activity, although systematic knowledge in this area remains limited. Methodology: a systematic review based on PRISMA guidelines and a scientometric analysis of literature indexed in PubMed between 2020 and 2025 have been conducted using search terms related to biotechnology, fitness, and supplements; the initial search identified 77 records, of which 47 met temporal criteria and 27 were included after screening and eligibility processes. Results: a thematic concentration is observed around functional nutrition, probiotics, gut microbiome, murine C57BL models, and exercise physiology, evidencing an increase in scientific production and the predominance of experimental approaches focused on performance and metabolic regulation; international collaboration networks led by the United States and Italy are also identified, with growing participation from China, Brazil, and the United Kingdom. Conclusion: biotechnology applied to fitness is consolidating as an expanding multidisciplinary scientific domain that promotes the development of personalized strategies based on molecular tools, nutraceuticals, and biomaterials aimed at improving performance, recovery, and overall well-being in a safe and ethical manner.
